Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, and share information when you visit our website or register for our programs.
Last updated: August 13, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how The Myrtle Beach Basketball Academy ("we," "us," or "the Academy") collects, uses, and shares information when you visit myrtlebeachbasketball.com or register for our programs. By using our website, you agree to the practices described here.
Information we collect
Information you provide
When you register for a program or complete a waiver, we and our service providers may collect information such as the parent or guardian's name, email address, and phone number, and the player's first name, last name, and age. Registration and payment details are collected through Stripe, and liability waivers are completed through Smartwaiver.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain information through cookies and similar technologies, including the Meta Pixel:
- Browsing activity — pages you view, links and buttons you click, and other interactions with the site.
- Device and browser information — such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring website, and general location inferred from your IP address.
- Hashed contact information — if you submit contact information (for example, during registration), the Meta Pixel's Automatic Advanced Matching feature may collect a hashed (one-way encrypted) version of information such as your email address or phone number.
Advertising and measurement (Meta Pixel and Conversions API)
We use the Meta Pixel and the Meta Conversions API to measure how our advertising performs and to show ads for our programs to people who may be interested. This includes Automatic Advanced Matching, which sends hashed contact information (such as an email address or phone number) to Meta to help match activity to Meta accounts and improve ad measurement.
The Meta Pixel runs in your browser, while the Conversions API sends certain event information (such as page views and registrations) to Meta from our website and systems. Through these tools, the information described above is shared with Meta Platforms, Inc. for advertising and measurement purposes. Meta may use this information in accordance with its own Privacy Policy.
Payments (Stripe)
Payments are processed by Stripe. When you register and pay, your payment card information is collected and handled directly by Stripe on its secure systems — we do not receive or store your full payment card number. Stripe processes your payment information as described in its Privacy Policy.
Waivers (Smartwaiver)
Liability waivers are collected through Smartwaiver on our behalf. Information you enter into a waiver is stored and processed by Smartwaiver so that we can confirm a signed waiver is on file before your player participates.
How we use information
- To process registrations and payments and to manage our programs.
- To communicate with you about your registration, schedules, and updates.
- To operate, measure, and improve our website and programs.
- To advertise our programs and measure the effectiveness of that advertising.
- To protect the safety of participants and to comply with legal obligations.
How we share information
We share information with service providers who help us operate — including Stripe (payments), Smartwaiver (waivers), and Meta (advertising and measurement) — for the purposes described above. We may also share information when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of participants and others. We do not sell your information for money.
Your choices and how to opt out
When you first visit our website, you can accept or decline non-essential cookies — including the Meta Pixel — using our cookie banner. The Meta Pixel loads only if you accept. You can change your choice at any time:
- Browser settings — you can set your browser to block or delete cookies, block third-party cookies, or use private browsing. Blocking cookies may limit tracking, including the Meta Pixel.
- Meta ad preferences — you can control how Meta uses your information for ads in your Meta ad preferences and ad settings.
- Device settings — your mobile device may offer controls to limit ad tracking or reset your advertising identifier.
Opting out may make the ads you see less relevant, but it will not affect your ability to use our website or register for programs.
Children's privacy
Our website and registration are intended for parents and guardians. Information about a child (such as a player's name and age) is provided to us by the registering parent or guardian, not collected directly from children. If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent's involvement, please contact us and we will address it.
Data retention and security
We keep information for as long as needed to provide our programs and for legitimate business or legal purposes. We use reasonable measures to protect information, and payment and waiver information is handled by our providers on their secure systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above.
